Let me put this in perspective for you, my son, who only does to the shows at SDC when we he has to, went in with the attitude of, "ok, I will watch but I am not going to like it", found himself laughing, hooting and hollering "ole" during the entire show. As we left all he could say was, "that was fantastic!" In my book there is no better recommendation than when a moody teenager has a great time!
Originally from Santiago Del Estero, Andres Soso, an Argentinean National Folk Dancing Champion, has created a spectacular show that combines, a talented group of artist. The show titled "Amamos Argentina" features drummers, traditional Argentinean Folk dances, whip work and an amazing act featuring Boleadoras.
Boleadoras are a braided leather rope with 3 weighted balls attached to the end, that the gauchos originally used to capture animals by throwing them and entangling their legs. However, the Los Pampas Gauchos use them to perform a choreographed gaucho dance to the beat of the bombo drum. How they don't hit themselves in the head is beyond me.
The show is fast paced and family friendly. Soso's humor and interaction with the audience steals the show. Silver Dollar City's "World Fest" ends May 5th so there are only a few days left to go see "Amamos Argentina".
If you can't make it to Branson this weekend, check out this great you tube video from March 2012 that features an entire Los Pampas Gauchos show from Dollywood. This show is a different from the one we saw, but the Argentinean flavor and showmanship shines through.
